A pouco menos de onze meses da data prevista para as eleições municipais de 2024, como não poderia deixar de ser, as principais pautas políticas, como não poderia deixar de ser, são referentes às sucessões municipais. Não é diferente em Macarani, onde os principais atores da cena política já estão se organizando e articulando para compor a chapa majoritária que disputará a cadeira hoje ocupada pela prefeita Selma Rodrigues Souto (PSD).
Embora adotem um discurso cauteloso, as principais lideranças políticas do município já estariam se movimentando para formatar alianças e viabilizar candidaturas. Na última semana, entrou em cena uma nova informação, que promete agitar os bastidores da política macaraniense: a probabilidade do retorno do ex-prefeito Antônio Carlos – Carlinhos – Macedo Araújo (MDB) à cena política partidária, embora dela, oficialmente, nunca tenha se afastado.
Segundo apurou a reportagem do JS, hoje o nome do ex-prefeito, que teve o mandato cassado em 2015 por abuso de poder econômico e compra de votos na campanha eleitoral de 2012, mais de oito anos depois, é mencionado como integrante de todas as listas de supostos pretendentes à disputa pela sucessão da social democrata Selma Rodrigues Souto nas eleições municipais de 2024. E com grandes chances de vencer o pleito, segundo analistas políticos regionais, que apontam uma possível aliança do emedebista com o também ex-prefeito Olissandro Pinto Nogueira (Progressistas) como importante fator para fortalecimento de uma candidatura oposicionista no município.
