Embora adotem um discurso cauteloso, as principais lideranças políticas do município já estariam se movimentando para formatar alianças e viabilizar candidaturas. Na última semana, entrou em cena uma nova informação, que promete agitar os bastidores da política macaraniense: a probabilidade do retorno do ex-prefeito Antônio Carlos – Carlinhos – Macedo Araújo (MDB) à cena política partidária, embora dela, oficialmente, nunca tenha se afastado.
Segundo apurou a reportagem do JS, hoje o nome do ex-prefeito, que teve o mandato cassado em 2015 por abuso de poder econômico e compra de votos na campanha eleitoral de 2012, mais de oito anos depois, é mencionado como integrante de todas as listas de supostos pretendentes à disputa pela sucessão da social democrata Selma Rodrigues Souto nas eleições municipais de 2024. E com grandes chances de vencer o pleito, segundo analistas políticos regionais, que apontam uma possível aliança do emedebista com o também ex-prefeito Olissandro Pinto Nogueira (Progressistas) como importante fator para fortalecimento de uma candidatura oposicionista no município.
