Uma pesquisa de Iniciação Científica do curso de Fisioterapia da Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar) está convidando pessoas com diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus tipo 1 ou tipo 2, com idades entre 18 e 65 anos, para responder a um questionário online que investiga os efeitos da doença nos membros superiores e inferiores. A participação é voluntária, anônima e pode ser feita de qualquer lugar do Brasil.
O estudo, intitulado “Avaliação sensorial, motora e da função dos membros superiores e inferiores em indivíduos com Diabetes Mellitus”, é conduzido pela estudante de graduação Daniel Oishi Mariano, sob orientação da professora Paula Rezende Camargo, do Departamento de Fisioterapia (DFisio). A pesquisa tem como objetivo compreender de que forma o diabetes afeta aspectos como sensibilidade, força e função de braços e pernas, e como esses fatores se relacionam entre si.
“A diabetes mellitus é uma doença crônica e progressiva, com índices epidêmicos em todo o mundo. Estima-se que afete 537 milhões de pessoas globalmente, sendo o Brasil o sexto país com maior número de casos”, contextualiza Mariano. Segundo ele, a literatura científica já sugere uma possível relação entre a doença e disfunções musculoesqueléticas, especialmente no ombro, o que pode comprometer atividades diárias.
A expectativa do estudo é reunir dados que contribuam para avaliações clínicas mais completas. “Com informações suficientes, será possível alertar os profissionais da saúde para que atentem também para as condições musculoesqueléticas e sintomas nos membros superiores em pacientes com diabetes”, afirma o pesquisador. “Além disso, os resultados poderão auxiliar na construção de tratamentos mais específicos para essas alterações.”
A participação consiste apenas em um questionário online, sem necessidade de comparecimento presencial, e leva cerca de 20 minutos para ser respondido. Ao final do preenchimento, os participantes recebem uma cartilha com orientações sobre cuidados com sintomas da diabetes e possíveis complicações associadas à doença.
