Médico Veterinário indica algumas medidas para diminuir o sofrimento dos animais

| Com a chegada do São João no Nordeste e as outras celebrações do período junino, é muito comum crianças e adultos se divertirem soltando fogos de artifício. Contudo, apesar de entreter os seres humanos, o barulho dos fogos pode assustar, e muito, os pets. Por conta disso, o Conselho Federal de Medicina Veterinária (CFMV) defende que fogos de artifícios com estampidos sejam proibidos e, gradativamente, substituídos por fogos sem ruídos. O Médico Veterinário e Coordenador do curso de Medicina Veterinária do Centro Universitário UniFG, Instituição pertencente ao Ecossistema Ânima, Rodrigo Brito explica que tanto as luzes como os barulhos dos fogos de artifício provocam fortes estímulos nos pets. “A visão e a audição desses animais são mais sensíveis que a dos seres humanos, portanto o barulho dos estouros para eles é muito mais intenso”, diz o Especialista. Assustados, os animais podem ficar muito agitados. “Varia muito de animal para animal, mas a maioria tem uma reação de grande estresse e medo. Assim, eles podem correr, fugir, se esconder, tremer e latir. Em casos mais graves, podem ter uma convulsão ou parada cardíaca e irem a óbito”, alerta o professor da UniFG. Para lidar com o problema, Rodrigo separou algumas dicas e orientações para os tutores. Confira: • Reforce que janelas e portas estejam bem fechadas para evitar que os animais fujam durante os fogos de artifício. Se possível, certifique-se que o animal esteja com uma coleira com identificação para que, em caso de fuga, alguém possa devolver o animal; • Na sua casa, forneça um ambiente seguro para o seu pet. Se possível, uma casinha para que ele possa se sentir mais tranquilo e protegido. Isso vai funcionar como um esconderijo seguro para o animal; • Deixar uma televisão ou som ligado com uma música tranquila pode ajudar a distrair e minimizar a ansiedade causada pelos barulhos altos; • Caso esteja em casa durante os barulhos, pode brincar com o animal e oferecer alguns petiscos saudáveis como uma forma de distrai-lo; • No mercado existem roupas específicas que fazem uma compressão suave no animal e isso ajuda a acalmá-lo. O tutor pode fazer isso com panos, deixando o animal bem confortável e tranquilo; • Jamais utilizar medicamentos não prescritos por um médico veterinário, pois isso pode piorar o quadro. O professor destaca, por fim, que nos casos em que o tutor já sabe que o pet demonstra muito medo das luzes e estampidos de fogos de artifício, o ideal é procurar um médico veterinário com antecedência, já que nesses casos pode ser necessária a prescrição de algum medicamento que ajude a reduzir o estresse do animal. “Se o animal já for idoso ou tem histórico de problemas cardíacos também é ideal procurar o veterinário com antecedência. Além disso, se durante ou após os fogos, o tutor perceber que o animal está muito triste, ofegante ou ainda está agitado, é importante entrar em contato com o médico veterinário o quanto antes”, ressalta Rodrigo Brito.
