Muitas vezes algo que vemos como lixo, sob o olhar correto, pode se transformar em algo precioso. É o caso do potencial encontrado no pó de rocha extraído de defeline sienito, através de uma pesquisa desenvolvida pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Zootecnia da Uesb, em parceria com a empresa B4F.
O estudo buscou encontrar uma aplicação desse resíduo na agricultura, com o objetivo de melhorar a qualidade do solo de plantio. Rico em potássio, elemento essencial para o crescimento das plantas, esse pó seria, inicialmente, descartado. Por meio da pesquisa, percebeu-se que esse material é uma alternativa aos fertilizantes tradicionais importados e um caminho de economia para o produtor rural, visto que o Brasil é um dos quatro maiores consumidores de fertilizantes químicos no mundo, importando mais de 80% desses materiais.
Etapas do estudo
A pesquisa foi estruturada em quatro etapas. Inicialmente, foi realizada uma fundamentação teórica para posteriormente ocorrer a implementação do experimento em campo. Em seguida, ocorreu a coleta de materiais para análises nos períodos avaliativos e análises laboratoriais. Na etapa teórica, foram realizadas buscas bibliográficas e o planejamento detalhado dos próximos passos.
Em um segundo momento, foi realizada a inserção do pó de rocha no plantio de capiaçu, espécie de planta frequentemente usada como forragem. Os resultados indicaram maior crescimento e produção de massa, mesmo durante a seca, além de plantas com células mais resistentes, capazes de enfrentar pragas e estresses climáticos.
Finalizando, o pesquisador coletou dados do desenvolvimento das mudas, para posterior análise em laboratório das plantas produzidas com o uso do fertilizante. O trabalho aponta a ciência como aliada da sustentabilidade e como alternativas simples podem ajudar a sanar problemas complexos e mundiais.
“Com o crescimento populacional, vamos precisar produzir mais alimentos”, explica Juan Mark Amorim, pesquisador responsável pelo estudo. Para ele, o enriquecimento da qualidade do solo brasileiro é um dos caminhos para uma solução sustentável e acessível. “O uso do pó de rocha como fertilizante alternativo pode ser uma solução nacional, mais barata e sustentável, que reduz a dependência de insumos importados e fortalece a produção agrícola no país”, completa.
Juan ainda aponta que o desenvolvimento de um remineralizador produzido a partir de fontes como o pó de rocha, aponta para um caminho de fortalecimento da agricultura nacional. O estudo contou com a orientação do professor Márcio Pedreira, do Departamento de Fitotecnia e Zootecnia da Uesb.
