O município de Vitória da Conquista, no Sudoeste da Bahia novamente ganhou destaque nacional como a cidade com maior saneamento básico do Norte e Nordeste, segundo o Instituto Trata Brasil. O fato foi destacado pelo deputado federal Waldenor Pereira na Câmara dos Deputados nesta terça-feira (26), durante pronunciamento no Plenário Ulysses Guimarães.
O parlamentar começou sua fala revelando que a Bahia se destacou como o estado do Brasil que mais avançou no acesso ao saneamento básico, de acordo com a Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílio (PNAD) Contínua, publicada pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), na última sexta-feira (22).
“E, com base nessa pesquisa, o Instituto Trata Brasil concluiu, mais uma vez, que o município de Vitória da Conquista, a minha cidade, o meu município se destacou como o município de maior saneamento básico do Norte e Nordeste do país. Um fato que deve ser destacado, que deve ser, realmente, elogiado porque é resultado de investimentos dos governos do Partido dos Trabalhadores no âmbito nacional, estadual e municipal”, revelou o parlamentar.
Waldenor destacou ainda que “foi na administração do prefeito José Raimundo Fontes que o presidente Lula decidiu pela liberação de recursos para a realização deste extraordinário investimento que hoje permite à cidade ostentar índice de 96,8% de cobertura de água e, no esgotamento sanitário, 83,25% dos domicílios são atendidos, número que chega a 92% na zona urbana”.
O parlamentar enfatizou que os números de Vitória da Conquista são sempre superiores à média nacional e parabenizou o Governo da Bahia e a Embasa pelo importante feito alcançado.
